How to Improve your Appearance

Many people find that as they get older, they begin to notice more imperfections. It’s true that we’re our own harshest critics, but here are a few ways you can improve your appearance and improve your self-confidence:

Whiten your teeth

A clean, white, healthy smile can do wonders for your appearance. When someone is talking, out eyes naturally fall to their mouths occasionally (particularly if we’re attracted to that person). Love My Teeth whitening kits work well, and you can whiten your teeth at home without paying hundreds of dollars for professional whitening. You’ll be surprised at what a difference white teeth makes to your appearance and self-esteem, and you’ll be showing your new smile off at every opportunity.

Workout

Not only is working out great for your health, but you’re likely to lose weight while toning your bod. The best way to work out is to combine high-intensity interval training (short bursts of sprints or jumps followed by jogging or walking) with strength training which will help you burn fat while creating muscle.

When you workout and look after your body, you’ll begin to feel better and will quickly notice that you fit your clothes better and naturally want to eat well to get better results.

Watch your diet

There are so many misconceptions around what we should eat that it’s hard to know what to believe. Generally though, staying away from high-carb, processed and sugary foods will have you losing weight quickly, and you can fill up on protein and healthy fat for fewer cravings. Intermittent fasting is another great way to lose weight, and it’s all about eating at certain times so your body is in a fasted state for longer, and therefore burning more calories.

Look after your skin

Sun damage, smoking, and simply having an expressive face can lead to wrinkles. Picking acne can lead to scarring, and before you know it, you can be feeling self-conscious about your skin. Choose a non-abrasive cleanser and find the best moisturiser and night cream for your skin type. Always use a moisturiser that’s at least SPF 30 during the day, and if you’re a woman, removing your makeup is crucial before bed to prevent clogged pores.

There are many different options on the market which can help with scarring and wrinkles. Microdermabrasion is excellent for light wrinkles and recent scarring, while some people are beginning to get botox a couple of times a year in their late twenties and early thirties to deal with early signs of ageing and help prevent wrinkles from forming.

If you’re hoping to improve your appearance this year, consider using some of the above tips. Remember, while there are many small things that can make you look better, it’s what’s inside that counts. Accepting yourself and all of your flaws will make you a fun person to be around, which is always an attractive trait.
